  Important Conferences

In the past few weeks Auxiliarists have planned and participated in three major conferences, NACON, CSAR and Sea Partners/WWW. The National Conference (NACON) received full SITREP coverage and is still available on site. The Caribbean Search & Rescue (CSAR) Conference and the Sea Partners/Water Way Watch (WWW) Conference also produced some interesting and educational information. Read the highlights of these two conferences, now on SITREP, the Auxiliary’s National e-magazine.now on

Auxiliary Search Coordination & Execution (AUXSC&E) Course Replaces AUXSAR
The new AUXSC&E course is now available at ANSC and is ready to be taught in the Districts. This course replaces AUXSAR in the Auxiliary's suite of AUXOP courses. AUXSC&E, which is the Auxiliary version of the Coast Guard's Search Coordination & Execution course, is an AUXOP course, and as such, is not required for qualification or currency maintenance for the Boat Crew program. Additional information about the new course can be obtained at
www.auxtdept.org.

Hello Flotilla Members!

August already! It will soon be time to think about putting the boats in storage for those long winter months. I hope you all had a pleasant summer, on and off the water. And remember, the nicest boating time may be early fall when all the children are back in school for the season! And only a retired teacher could fully appreciate that!

As we move into the cooler weather, I would like to remind everyone that this is the perfect time to work on a new qualification or AuxOp course. I will be glad to help you in any way I can to achieve your Auxiliary goals. We can always use more instructors as we have several who are teaching multiple courses.

I would also like to invite you to express your interest in Flotilla Staff Officer positions. Sydne and Jack will be looking at the current staff. If you have interest in a position (even if it is filled), please discuss it with any of us. A new view of things is always welcome.

Thank you for your interest and support. You have all helped make our Flotilla an active unit!

Mary Ann

Dear 10-5 Auxiliarists,

Earlier this year,  Rick and I bought 5 new tires and wheels for our boat trailer, and a new GPS.  The old wheels were 13 inch, the new ones are 14 inch.  We now have a spare, and Rick was able to remove the adapters that gave the disc brakes clearance on the old wheels.  The GPS was an old Garmin, and I mean OLD.   The screen resolution was going bad.  The new Lowrance is adaptable for both car and boat, giving us 12 months of use, not just 3 to 5.

Mary Ann is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, as far as her command of 10-5 for these past 2 years.  With her leadership,  we have seen 10-5 refit its "trailer" with new, larger wheels and tires, making our journey smoother and easier.  Like the new GPS we bought, which has much better resolution and a larger screen,  our flotilla is receptive to new direction and has a much clearer picture of where we are going.

Thank you, Mary Ann, and thank you members, for all that you do.  A flotilla is only as vital as its members allow.

Sincerely,
Sydne
